Questions and how do I get started?
How do I start therapy?
First off, thanks for being here!
Take a peek at the “who are we” tab to explore different clinicians and their specialties. Feel free to reach out to a provider directly (their contact information is listed on their bio page) to get started.
If you’re struggling to identify who you’d like to meet, email info@virtatherapy.com with an outline of why you’re seeking therapy and anything specific about your identity and needs. From there, someone will reach out to you within one business day with a referral. The specific provider will also be reaching out via email.
Your provider will reach out to set up an “intake” session and also send the necessary document to fill out through our client portal.
How do I start medication management?
Referrals for medication management and psychiatry occur only after building a
therapeutic relationship with a provider and starting therapy. From there, your provider can direct you to the appropriate process.
How do I pay for services?
There are a few options for payment for services.
You can utilize your insurance, we are in network with most providers. To ensure services will be covered in-network, we recommend that you first call your insurance to confirm.
You can utilize private pay, meaning pay out of pocket. This can be an option if your insurance doesn’t cover mental health services or just a choice based on personal preferrence.
At times, individuals can utilize worker’s compensation funds or Employee Assistance Programs to cover costs. This would depend on your circumstance or employer.
Payments are all made electronically through our client portal. A link is in the header above.
How do I get to the office?
Our address is 209 Snelling Ave. N. St. Paul, MN 55104.
If you’re driving, once on Snelling Avenue, you can turn west on Dayton Avenue then quickly turn right into our parking lot. Parking is available on the west side of the building, be sure to observed signage to indicate the correct parking spots. If those spots are full, please seek street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.
There is also an accessible bus stop just outside of our doors, which is the Snelling and Dayton Station.
Will my insurance cover this?
The short answer is, it depends. Please reach out to your specific insurance and directly ask if we are in-network. From there, dependent on your coverage, you may need to pay a co-pay or a co-insurance percentage or may be fully covered. We are in-network with most insurance providers, and want to make sure you check with your plan prior to getting started.
What if I’m nervous to get started with therapy?
That’s absolutely understandable and very normal. To help, we offer a free 15 minute consultation with a potential clinician to open the door for you and introduce you to therapy, how it works at Virta, and who your individual provider may be.
What if I can’t make my scheduled session time?
Go ahead and reach out to your provider directly, either to their email or to their direct phone number. You can either communicate to cancel or to reschedule to another time. Please know that you will be charge a late fee of $100 if you either no-show or cancel within a 24 hour window. Speak with your clinician if you have questions or concerns about this policy.
What is a “Good Faith Estimate”?
By Minnesota law, this is a required document provided by a healthcare provider to an uninsured or self-pay patient, outlining the expected charges for a scheduled service. This is provided for you through our client portal
